Dear Federica,

The connections are as follows:

E =3D -V
D =3D +V
F=3D +I
C=3D -I

Where D & F are connected to the base of the superconducting wire=20
C is the connection in series with the heater which then connects to the
top of the s/c wire=20
E is the connection directly in series with the top of the s/c wire.

I regret to say the measurements do confirm the probe is damaged beyond
repair. I will ask our sales department to send you a quotation for a
replacement. =20

Our records show that the 2.1mm stainless tube length should be 1253mm
long. Please confirm this is correct if you order a replacement. You
can withdraw the probe without problem from the cryostat

Best regards & Merry Christmas,

Roger Mitchell

Subject: problem with helium probe 105

Dear Roger,
I just phoned this morning about an issue with a helium probe:

here are the details:

1. probe type:105
2. controle unit: HLG200/210
3. stainless steel cryostat project nr: J2024 4. magnet insert project
nr: J2041

Fault findings:=20

1. Level indication does not make sense (empty=3D560mm, full=3D810mm,
insetad of empty=3D0mm, full=3D555mm).
2. Resistance between E-C=3D5 Ohm, OK
3. Resistance between E-F=3D1 Ohm, WRONG according to manual (should be
95-105
Ohm)
4. Resistance between F-D=3DO.L. (open), WRONG according to manual =
(should
be
0.5-4 Ohm)

The resistances have been measured at the probe connector.

Could you please tell me what the resistances/connections above mean?

Could you also send me a quotation for a new probe?

Best regards,

Federica
